[post_content] => Bankside Women's Network invites you to join this practical and insightful event about flexible working, whether you want to learn how to make flexible working work for your business or know more about your rights as an employee. Hear from a panel of experts about recent changes to employment law including the right to request flexible working from day one and further changes announced in the recent King’s Speech, such as enhancements to parental leave and support for carers.
This event is for anyone who works for a Bankside business and is interested in learning more about this topic, including people with line management or HR, EDI or wellbeing responsibilities, as well as anyone wanting to know more about flexible working rights as an individual. The panel will also respond to questions, which can be submitted in advance when registering and asked on the day.
The panel discussion and Q&A will be chaired by Sam Williams, co-founder and CEO of Barley Communications, a social purposed communications agency which has put flexibility at the heart of its working model.
Panellists will include:
Louise Lawrence, Winckworth Sherwood – Louise is a Partner specialising in employment law who advises both employers and employees on all employment-related matters from drafting contracts of employment to defending Tribunal claims. Louise has a wealth of experience in advising clients on flexible working requests.
Nikki Sandham, Recorra - Nikki is the CFO at Recorra, a Bankside-based recycling firm with around 300 employees. Having established the finance team in 2017 she has been a Non-Executive Director ever since. She returned to Recorra in 2024 and recently established the People Team; she is passionate about growing rounded, well-trained teams, ensuring EDI is central to business strategy.
Claire Walker, Society of London Theatre – Claire is Co-Chief Executive of SOLT with her job-share partner Hannah Essex. Claire and Hannah are trailblazers in the concept of co-leadership, proving it can have significant benefits in terms of innovation, influence, and relationships.
This event is also an opportunity to network with other Banksiders and learn more about Better Bankside’s work to support local businesses.
The event is generously hosted by Clarion Communications in The Circle Restaurant, Rose Court, 2 Southwark Bridge Road.

[post_content] => Join us for this breakfast briefing to learn more about Bankside Futures, a summer work experience opportunity for local young people.
Whether your business has already confirmed its participation in Bankside Futures, or you want to learn more about the different ways to get involved in this summer's programme, you are welcome to attend this breakfast event.
It's an opportunity to hear from Sculpt UK, delivery partner for Bankside Futures, about all the ways that Bankside businesses can help young people learn about the world of work; whether that's providing an insight into your sector and its career pathways, delivering a skills-based workshop or helping young people on the programme practice their networking and interview skills.
There will also be time to network with other Bankside businesses over tea, coffee and pastries.
What is Bankside Futures?Bankside Futures is a two-week summer work experience opportunity for young people aged 16-18 years old who live and/or study in Southwark. Bankside Futures runs from 8-19 July, and helps young people build their awareness of different careers through skills-based workshops, employer encounters, networking opportunities and more. Working in teams, the young people will also develop a social action project that responds to issues they care about that affect our neighbourhood. They will present their ideas to family, friends, teachers and Bankside businesses at the end of the programme.
To find out more about Bankside Futures and how your organisation can get involved this summer, please contact Rachel Nicholson: rn@betterbankside.co.uk
