We at Better Bankside are well established as champions of our neighbourhood, having served this community for over 21 years. Following a successful ballot last autumn, where 91% of Bankside businesses voted yes to another five years of Better Bankside, we are now into our fifth term and advancing the programme to deliver on promises made in our manifesto. At the AGM we will be delighted to share the headlines of our ambitious new five-year strategy, which sets out how we will achieve our shared vision for a stronger, greener, happier Bankside. Co-created with business leaders and community partners, it draws on insights from over 900 local businesses engaged during our ballot. We would love to hear your thoughts and explore how you or your business can help make this shared vision a reality – there are many opportunities to get involved. The AGM is also an opportunity for us to share the highlights of the past year and for you to meet the Better Bankside board and team. Whilst in effect, we treat all levy payers as members, formally joining Better Bankside will allow you to vote at the AGM. There is a simple process to become a member of Better Bankside. Membership of Better Bankside is open to all BID levy payers, and for others at the discretion of the board. We hope you will be able to join us for the AGM. Please RSVP to ng@betterbankside.co.uk and feel free to get in touch with any questions. An invitation to the AGM was sent to all Better Bankside levy payers by post, you can read it here: Better Bankside Annual General Meeting letter 2025 [post_title] => 2 December – Better Bankside Annual General Meeting [post_excerpt] => [post_status] => publish [comment_status] => closed [ping_status] => closed [post_password] => [post_name] => better-bankside-annual-general-meeting [to_ping] => [pinged] => [post_modified] => 2025-11-20 10:53:22 [post_modified_gmt] => 2025-11-20 10:53:22 [post_content_filtered] => [post_parent] => 0 [guid] => https://staging.betterbankside.co.uk/?post_type=event&p=6733 [menu_order] => 0 [post_type] => event [post_mime_type] => [comment_count] => 0 [filter] => raw ) [1] => WP_Post Object ( [ID] => 6709 [post_author] => 9 [post_date] => 2025-11-13 13:12:01 [post_date_gmt] => 2025-11-13 13:12:01 [post_content] => Balancing work with caring for a loved one can be challenging, but you’re not alone. Get involved with Bankside Futures this summer by volunteering for this fun speed-networking event.

This fast-paced volunteer activity is an opportunity to help local young people practice their networking skills and build their confidence to talk to new people.  Networking is a vital part of everyone’s career, but many of us still find it daunting.  So this event is also a chance to practice your own networking skills and get to know volunteers from other Bankside businesses.

Ahead of the event, the Bankside Futures team will share an overview of the types of questions to expect from the young people, focusing on your current role and career pathway, along with some tips on handling difficult or personal questions.

There will also be a full briefing at the start of the event, and a chance to practice networking with the other volunteers before the young people arrive.  It's a great opportunity for anyone who wants to build their confidence to network, making it an ideal volunteering opportunity for young professionals in particular.

Participation in this event is limited to individuals who work for Bankside businesses.

Get involved with Bankside Futures this summer by volunteering at this mock interview activity.

Working in pairs, volunteers will conduct short interviews to help young people participating in Bankside Futures this summer gain valuable experience by answering questions about themselves and their achievements.

In addition to a briefing at the start of the activity, you will be provided with an interview guide to help you prepare and conduct the interviews, including a set of interview questions and feedback forms.

At the end of the activity, your feedback will be gathered and discussed with the Bankside Futures team, so that recommendations can be shared with the young people to help them prepare for real-life interviews in the future.

As well as in-person interviews, we also need one or two "remote volunteers" who can host online interviews, given how commonplace these are now.  The Bankside Futures team will set up the online interview, so you will just need to log on from your device, whether you are in the office or working remotely.

You don't need to be an HR professional to sign up for this activity, as it's a great way to develop your skills and confidence as an interviewer.

If you are interested in other ways to support young people get ready for work, please get in touch with Rachel Nicholson.

Participation in this event is limited to individuals who work for Bankside businesses.

We need Bankside businesses to help deliver Bankside Futures. Business volunteers are key to the success of the programme, and there are a multitude of ways that you can get involved. Come along to this breakfast event to learn about the different volunteering opportunities for your business or for yourself.  If you've taken part in Bankside Futures in the past, or have already expressed interest in this summer's programme, you are also welcome to attend this event. At the event, you will hear from Sculpt UK, delivery partner for Bankside Futures, about all the ways that Bankside businesses can help young people learn about the world of work; whether that's providing an insight into your sector and its career pathways, delivering a skills-based workshop or helping young people on the programme practice their networking and interview skills. There will also be time to network with other Bankside businesses over tea, coffee and pastries. What is Bankside Futures? Bankside Futures is a career discovery programme for young people aged 16 – 18 who study or live in Southwark. It is designed to help them learn about the world of work by meeting a range of Bankside businesses and creating a social action project in their community. Over two weeks, from 7 to 18 July, young people will take part in work experience with a twist as they discover new career pathways, take part in tailored workshops, work experience mornings, networking opportunities and mock interviews. Additionally, in small teams, they will use the skills they have developed to create a social action project about something they care about that is affecting Southwark and present this to friends, family, employers and local businesses at the end of the programme. An invitation to the AGM was sent to all Better Bankside levy payers by post, you can read it here: Better Bankside Annual General Meeting letter 2025 [post_title] => 2 December – Better Bankside Annual General Meeting [post_excerpt] => [post_status] => publish [comment_status] => closed [ping_status] => closed [post_password] => [post_name] => better-bankside-annual-general-meeting [to_ping] => [pinged] => [post_modified] => 2025-11-20 10:53:22 [post_modified_gmt] => 2025-11-20 10:53:22 [post_content_filtered] => [post_parent] => 0 [guid] => https://staging.betterbankside.co.uk/?post_type=event&p=6733 [menu_order] => 0 [post_type] => event [post_mime_type] => [comment_count] => 0 [filter] => raw ) [comment_count] => 0 [current_comment] => -1 [found_posts] => 34 [max_num_pages] => 3 [max_num_comment_pages] => 0 [is_single] => [is_preview] => [is_page] => [is_archive] => 1 [is_date] => [is_year] => [is_month] => [is_day] => [is_time] => [is_author] => [is_category] => [is_tag] => [is_tax] => 1 [is_search] => [is_feed] => [is_comment_feed] => [is_trackback] => [is_home] => [is_privacy_policy] => [is_404] => [is_embed] => [is_paged] => [is_admin] => [is_attachment] => [is_singular] => [is_robots] => [is_favicon] => [is_posts_page] => [is_post_type_archive] => [query_vars_hash:WP_Query:private] => e7083f9727d86009e8363424cdd0f6bb [query_vars_changed:WP_Query:private] => [thumbnails_cached] => [allow_query_attachment_by_filename:protected] => [stopwords:WP_Query:private] => [compat_fields:WP_Query:private] => Array ( [0] => query_vars_hash [1] => query_vars_changed ) [compat_methods:WP_Query:private] => Array ( [0] => init_query_flags [1] => parse_tax_query ) [query_cache_key:WP_Query:private] => wp_query:15e793c8e35ef5be1af7a62d0fb3f404:0.59727200 17658978490.65424600 1765897849 )
