With Andy Pankhurst.

Your own still life landscape model composed from household vegetables, etc (instead of coal – potatoes, bread & cheese can make for good rocks, face mirror for pond/water, and famously broccoli as trees).

Materials:

  • Sketch pad (either A4-A3 size)
  • drawing pencils
  • pencil sharpener
  • willow charcoal
  • white chalk
  • putty rubber

Inspiration for this session comes from Thomas Gainsborough RA, (1727-1788) who is known to have made continuous still life set ups on a small folding table as part of his creative process towards composing his landscape pictures “models, or rather thoughts,” as was stated by one of Gainsborough’s close companions. During the session you will both draw and learn to compose your very own theatrical set-up similar as Gainsborough would have done. The evening will begin with a brief slide presentation and end with a final group positive critique.

This is an online event. A zoom link will be sent out nearer to the time.

You are welcome to join this event if you live or work in Bankside.

This is part of our annual Better You programme to support your health and wellbeing, designed to encourage you to be your best and happiest self, whatever 2022 may bring.
