Paper Round are charging ahead with the first electric recycling trucks to service commercial customers in London.
Climate change is one of the greatest threats of our time. The evidence is clear and there is no doubt that emissions of greenhouse gases from human activity are impacting our climate.
In May 2019, the UK Government declared a climate emergency, committing the country to net zero emissions by 2050.
Here in Bankside, we work hard to improve air quality for our neighbourhood and achieve our goal of a net zero by 2030. This is why we teamed up with Paper Round, to offer subsidised recycling for businesses, helping to consolidate vehicle movements and improve our environmental impact.
Paper Round were the first commercial recycling business in London to purchase a 100% electric recycling truck – marking the start of the electrification of their fleet.
So grab a coffee and head down to bankside on Tuesday 26th October during lunchtime to check out the spectacular truck, which actually started life as a diesel vehicle! Their team will be on hand to answer all your questions and tell you the ins and outs of electric trucks and what the waste and recycling industry is doing to reduce emissions.
This one is not to be missed!
This event is part of Bankside 2025: pioneering a low carbon neighbourhood, a programme of activity taking place from 25-29 October 2021 at a converted Southwark Street railway arch. Organised by Better Bankside and open to the public in the run up to COP26, the arch will transform into a hub for climate action, mobilising active participation from businesses and individuals from across Bankside and London.
