This year’s Pancake Day Race was a resounding success, bringing together local businesses, community members, and spectators for a lively and spirited competition. Participants donned creative costumes and demonstrated impressive pancake-flipping skills as they raced to the finish line. The bright, sunny weather was the sugar and lemon on the day’s celebratory atmosphere, making it a truly enjoyable occasion for all involved.

After five spectacular heats, the event culminated in the first-ever nail-biting sudden death between Winkworth Sherwood’s team, Flipping Lawyers, and Circa London’s team, Circa Tossers. Circa Tossers came out on top, securing first place in a dramatic finish. It was a well-deserved victory for Circa London, whose team navigated the course with speed and flipping mastery. Their prize was a generously donated team breakfast at Café François.

However, the day was about more than just winning, it was also an opportunity to support a great cause. Thanks to the generosity of participants, the event raised £325 for Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST). These funds will contribute to the Trust’s work in maintaining and enhancing local green spaces, ensuring the community continues to benefit from accessible outdoor areas.

BOST is soon to undertake a significant redevelopment of Marlborough Sports Garden and is seeking corporate sponsorship to help make it happen. They are still accepting support, so if your business is interested in getting involved, please reach out to them directly.

The success of the event was made possible by the support of several key partners. BOST provided the venue, Marlborough Sports Garden, while historian and Blue Badge Guide Antony Robins (Mr. Londoner) kept the crowd entertained as the event’s host. Crépes à la Carte provided catering, and Café François generously donated the winning prize.

A sincere thank you goes out to everyone who participated, supported, and attended. The energy and enthusiasm on display truly captured the spirit of Bankside’s business community.

We look forward to welcoming even more teams and spectators next year for another exciting Pancake Day Race.
